Stretching Therapy

Stretch therapy or assisted stretching is considered one of the most effective methods to increase range of motion and flexibility. Assisted stretching allows for what cannot be obtained through self-stretching: maximal resistance. Using this technique, the practitioner gently stretches your muscle or muscle group to its end point for a few seconds. Once relaxed, the therapist then passively stretches the muscle again, positioning it further than the original range of motion allowed.

It’s helpful to include stretching in your exercise regimen. Stretching can increase flexibility and improve your joint’s range of motion, helping you move more freely. And ensuring that you have equal flexibility on both sides to loosen up muscle tightness and alleviate pain. In addition, stretching may also protect you from injury.

Why Try Stretch Therapy?

Shortened muscles become fragile and weak, adding unnecessary pressure on tendons and pulling bones out of their natural alignment. This can result in muscle, joint and back pain, as well as related injuries. One of the biggest benefits of regular stretching is to lengthen the muscles, thereby reducing the stress and pressure on the tendons and joints. Other benefits of stretching include:

  • Increased Circulation
  • Increased Energy
  • Increased Range of Motion
  • Reduced Muscle Tension
  • Enhanced Muscular Coordination
